Is this a good idea, or too much? My DD is showing an extreme interest in learning a foreign language (French, German, or Spanish, depending on the context!), and I'd like to grab that opportunity while I can. Can anyone offer some age-appropriate resources for these languages?
TIA!

This is a great time to learn a foreign language, especially if she shows interest in it. I don't have any great resources to use, but, as a suggestion, my dc learned a lot of Spanish watching their cartoons and movies on TV here in Guatemala. A really great thing is watching their movies on DVD in the Spanish/French mode so they can start hearing it spoken and also listening to Spanish or French radio. Even while she's studying the mechanics of the language, it is really great to have her hear it too so she can really gain a good understanding and pronunciation.:)

If you choose French, the Bonjour Les Amis DVDs will be great- they are cartoons that have conversations and songs with the words on the screen. They are somewhat interactive b/c they pause for the child to repeat. Hop, Skip and Learn French is a fun, audio product where a child learns french through games and directions.
Really whatever language you choose: colors, alphabet, common words, and numbers are a good place to start
