View Full Version : British Lit...Sonlight's or Lightning Lit?

I am really vacillating back and forth on which British Lit course to use for my 11th grade DS. We have used Sonlight in the past (through Core 7) and he really liked it...he loves to read. This past year (10th) we used Hewitt Lightning Lit American (and he liked that, too) after using TOG for grades 8 & 9.
So, has anyone used the Sonlight British Lit? Does it have enough literary analysis? It requires more books than LL, but I'm not sure that's reason enough to go with it versus the LL.
I would appreciate anyone who can compare the two!
Thanks,
Kirsten

I can't compare SL to LL, but I can tell you that SL looks really good. We just bought it for this year and have only used it for one week. There is LOTS of discussion for each day's reading, not just per book. In my opinion, core 530 has lots more analysis material than core 7, and the guide is written to the student, with a separate section for the teacher.
I know that's not much, but hope it helps. BTW, we're planning on using LL for American Lit next year.
