My son is finishing Singapore 6B. Singapore is a good match for him, as he grasps concepts pretty quickly and does not like busy-work. It has not been too easy; it has not been too hard.
I am considering Jacob's Algebra for him next year ... anyone feel like this progression would work? Or is 'Pre-Algebra' needed first. ...
It doesn't seem like there is any placement information or tests for this Jacob's book -

If you have used Jacob's - any informational sites to recommend? From whom have you purchased the materials?

Thanks!

My son really excels at math so I knew he didn't need any pre-algebra so we jumped straight from Singapore to Jacobs and it was a good fit for us. I just bought the textbook from Rainbow. I skipped the answer key/teachers manual (can't remember what they have) as I love Algebra and with half the answers in the back of the book I didn't figure I needed any help. it turned out we just did the ones with the answers as that was plenty of practice for my son.

My local library had a couple of copies of the book so if you haven't had a chance to look at it personally try that and you can get a feel for whether or not it would be right for you.

So glad you asked-wish I had done so last year while making this decision...Jacobs is perfect after 6b in fact NEM by singapore grade 7 was so much more difficult and required a great deal more assistance from the teacher, the teacher who is a lawyer because she is not great at math...go with Jacobs it is clear, concise, covers coordinate graphs and will not give you a headache. NEM did not go so well and we switched happily to Jacobs and it works for both the math talented dd and math impaired momma-teacher

Jacobs has been wonderful for my 12 year old son.

It worked quite well and I highly recommend it for a math oriented student.

Absolutely...Jacob's is extremely user friendly...so much so that my 10 yr old ds loves it as does my 11 yr old dd. They also like using Jacob's Human Endeavor to mix things up.
