For those with students in VP Omnibus I, I was curious if you kept your younger ones (my dd is 8yo today) at the same pace/history stream as the older one (dd 15yo). I had 'thought' I would do VP OldTest/AncEgypt with my younger, however, since it stays on that period for a year, before long I will be doing two history sessions each week I believe. :001_huh:
I understand the Omnibus will require a bit more time from me and since there is just so much time in a day I am trying to plan more realistically this year.

Thank you very much,
Tamara

Yes, I kept our youngest doing the same period of history as the older two, only she did SOTW1 when we did Omnibus I and SOTW2 when we did Omnibus II. It worked out very well. She was about 10 at the time our oldest was 15, so maybe the age makes a difference.

I had the youngest read the appropriate section in SOTW (and we just read them in order, whether or not the material discussed coincided exactly with what the other two were doing in Omnibus; that would have been very difficult for me to coordinate) and then read it again while listening to the story being read on the CD's. Then she wrote out her narration and did an activity.

Doing all three at the same time was a bit hectic, but it worked! HTH.

Alternately, your 8 your could do VP OTAE and NTGR this year (combine, drop the Bible events, then it fits one year) while your older does O1. VP actually does a review of the elementary sequence cards in their O classes, which your older may or may not need. You'd at least all be on the same time-frame, if not the same exact topics. BTW, have you thought through how you're going to do history for your older? I've been reading my O readings, but I haven't started thinking through the history yet. Are you going to use Speilvogel? I just don't see how you can reasonably expect to keep a 15 yo and an 8 yo together at all for actual history reading. But your 8 yo will have a blast if you do OTAE + NTGR, and that will put her on track to hit O1 in 7th and still complete the entire VP history sequence.

3rd-OTAE + NTGR
4th-MARR
5th-Explorers to 1815
6th-1815 to Modern
