Looking for reviews/opinions. I was just looking at this at the B&N, and it's really nice (or seems to be). Everything seems laid out in a user-friendly way, and it's really a lovely book. Thinking about it as a possible spine for 2nd grade space studies - has anyone used it like this? I thought I could get supplemental books from the library on individual topics that we want to explore more deeply.

Also, Barnes and Noble has a bunch of the Seymour Simon science books on sale right now - buy 2, get 1 free. They are 6.99 each, and of course, use your educator discount card!

A Child's Intro the the Night Sky is a very nice book but I feel it uses difficult vocabulary at times for 2nd grade but you can skip the harder parts, it is a nice complement book.

Ditto:)
The book is excellent but an average 2nd grader would find parts a challenge.

I think this would be great to use for astronomy study! Thanks for the B&N tip,

I flipped through this at the library and thought it was a little beyond my kids (5 & 7). Ended up doing constellations with Find the Constellations by H.A. Rey. My kids and I both really really enjoyed it. They couldn't wait til we did it and they have retained a lot.

Yeah, I like this one, too, LOL! (I LOVE books!) And Rey has another book on astronomy that's also good - WHY can't I think of the name of it?

I was searching my library catalog and saw: The Stars: A New Way to Find Them by H.A. Rey. Is that the one you meant? My library doesn't actually have this book, it's just listed in the catalog with no additional information given.

Thanks to all on your opinions on A Child's Intro to the Night Sky. It really looks like a wonderful book, but I will keep looking for a good spine. Too bad I don't have an unlimited budget, so I can just get one of everything that's good out there. ;)

Thanks again,
Melissa
