What's the deal with 6X? K is getting too tall for some of her size 6 pants, but nowhere near a 7 (she has a pair of size 7 capris that are full-length on her). But 6/6X seem too short, and 6X/7 are too long. Is there actually such a thing as just 6X? Is it right between 6 & 7? She wore 5s for over a year, so I guess I'm paying now for the ease I've had....

I'm pretty sure that a 6X is a "6" X-tra long. For some reason those little gals get long legs right at that size, but they're not big enough around for a size 7.
(It's been a while, my oldest is in much bigger sizes. It's possible I have it backward and it's a 6 length with extra room at the waist, but I don't think so.)

No answer, but I sympathize.
I have an 8yo dd who can wear a size 12/14. No she isn't obese, she is just big. She is taller than my 11 year old by a couple of inches, who isn't considered short. I struggle to find pants that fit her. She is stocky, so if I get flairs I have to go a size up, then the waist is way too big, so I have to buy the elastic waist so I can cinch it up. Then the height, sigh...while she is tall for her age she is not as tall as kids who normally wear 12/14. She is about a 10, so I often end up buying 10 plus, so that they are shorter, but then I have to cinch the waist up even more!
I hope you find a pair that works. Maybe go into a bigger size but buy capris? Wont' work for winter, but would for summer and maybe she will have grown into size 7 by then.

transition time, for sure! I'm glad we are finally out of that stage. I never did have a great solution.

We've had the same problem. The last trip to buy pants for dd7 I bought size 8 she is 7 1/2. Not only did I hem them, but I cut off at least 3 inches! She isn't short either! If she grows 5 inches this year, then I guess I'll regret actually cutting the jeans, but probably not!
