So, I will go do the bills (Eek! I'm scared!) right now, and then come check in and tell you when I am done with that, ok? Then I will make a list and figure out what steps I will take to clean my house. Ok? Ok.
I really need to get my act in gear with these bills. Every month it is the same thing- I avoid them till they are late, then I can't sleep or relax, then I spend an hour on the phone paying them, and then I ignore them again for a month. :( Sigh. THis isn't working for me.
Okay- I will be back (said in my best Arnold voice). Wish me strength. And grace. And a plan of attack so I don't have to do this again next month!

If it's any consolation, I don't like dealing with bills either. Money just comes in and goes right out again! Yikes.

Have you tried your bank's online bill pay? I set mine up and forget about it. I do have to go back in and enter the bills with different amounts each month, but I actually find it FUN. Maybe that's because it is on the computer...? Or maybe I'm just weird. Yeah, that's it.

I like to post a calendar in the kitchen (so I'm sure to see it every day). I write each bill and the amt. due on its due date on the calendar. Having to face it every day makes it harder to put off.

Okay, I have done what I can today- paid the ones that could be paid over the phone, and have checks ready for the ones that are so late I have to do them in person, sigh. I have one that isn't due for a couple of weeks, but paid it anyhow.
About the bill-pay: We are set up for it, but aren't using it. I need to be more intentional about how I pay them.
I also like the idea of marking on the calendar when things are due- maybe I can mark them a few days early so we can pay them online.
Thanks for your support, and for not making me wrong about this- Lord knows I did that well enough by myself!

I love on-line bill pay also. I was doing it on the payee's website, but now I do it all through my bank and it is so much easier. When I get a bill, I just enter how much to pay and the date that it's paid. Now just to make sure there's enough money in the account, that's the hard part!

I just can't get back into the swing of school since the Christmas and New Year's holidays. I just don't wanna. So the new boards are giving me a nice diversion this afternoon. ;)

I would encourage you to use Bill Pay, it is not difficult to set up and could end up helping you avoid late fees. For example, my dh gets paid every two weeks so I keep a running list of what I know will be paid for first half of month and what is to be paid second half of month. We have much more expenses in second half so that check seems to get eaten up quicker, so I try and rearrange some bills to pay early to keep the flow more level. Bill Pay is great, I set it up to pay bills the Friday that dh gets paid, I do not use the automated feature but go in once a week and check to see what is what. I now save so much time in using Bill Pay versus checks and it has saved me money over not being late in paying due to procrastination. I know it can be very hard to take charge of your finances, but you can do it. You owe it to your sanity to do it. Once I took charge of ours, we have whittled ourselves out of debt (well almost). Yes, I hate to pay bills, but I hate the feeling of avoidance worse...face that bill demon now, set up the bill pay, and pat your self on the back for facing your dreaded chore bravely!
