Hi,
I got my tileboard from Home Depot...I think it was about $10-11. They cut it for me and the edges aren't sharp. I had it cut it three smaller segments. I have a little space between my refridgerator and wall and that is where I store mine. (I don't have a dedicated homeschool room.) I love them! I bought some of the Dry Erase board cleaner stuff (not sure of the name...it's in the Dry Erase marker section) and use that to clean them.
The price is right and it really helps with teaching.

I use rubbing alcohol to clean mine and it cleans up really well.

about what size did you get? just picturing about what size a $10 board would be like..... $10 we can probably do....
My 5yo is just the WIGGLIEST little person!! I need to give her some space and maybe working from a larger board instead of at a table will allow her to sit, lay, squiggle to her heart's delight on the floor.... and she may still learn something!

At my Home Depot, they only come in one size...very large! I can't remember the "original" dimensions, but "now' I have about three that are the size of a refridgerator! You can get them to cut it down to any size you want...they were very nice at my store.
It's great for teaching math...they can "see" what you're doing and your hand doesn't get in the way. It's also great for writing...we use IEW.
If you have a wall to put it on, you could "dress it up" by putting molding around it.
You'll be amazed at how much you'll get for $10! One of my best and cheapest investments!

I've got one, it's 8'x4', it's huge. If you look at my blog, you can see it towards the bottom of the page. It's just sitting against our wall right now. I have high hopes of it getting hung soon. I have been using bathroom cleaner to get it really clean, but I think it's causing my markers not to last as long. I need to maybe use the cleaner and then wipe it down with the rubbing alcohol.
It sure was cheaper than a wipe off board, that's for sure.

Kristine, when I was using tile cleaner, it messed up my markers also. I now just use household cleaner (Melaleuca or homemade) instead and I never have stains and my markers last :)
Pster, I got the tileboard at Home Depot and had them cut it in half so I have two 4x4 boards.
I can't find the picture from the beginning of the year...As I was looking, I found this CUTE pic of my son when he was 3 (he's 12 now):

You can see the size we got for around $10 in the pictures of our school room (http://larsonboysacademy.blogspot.com/2007/06/our-school-room.html). It's huge :D.

Thanks for the tip. I only used the other cleaner because it was nearby and did such a great job. I'll switch back and see if I can clean it well then use the alcohol and see what it does.
:)
