We've finished two weeks of school, and dd definitely has room in her schedule and on her transcript for an elective course.
I need to use one of these two courses that I already have on hand, as I've reached the limit of our budget for this year.
I have Total Health and Alpha Omega Home Ec. I want her to take both courses at some point over the next four years.
She's taking Biology this year, if that makes a difference in your vote. :)

I would say Health, only because I know that is a requirement in our state.

It's a requirement for graduation for our local public schools, as well.

I'd do Home Ec, because I wish I had taken it in high school. I got married having no clue about housekeeping and it was a problem for me.

I've no experience with it, but this post (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showpost.php?p=995099&postcount=3) mentions a free resource for home economics.

Apologia does not include a study of the human body--Total Health fills in a lot of what is not covered in Apoloigia Biology. They would be a good fit.
I found Total Health's tests/quizzes to be frustrating. They are overkill if you do all the chapter reviews, quizzes, and tests. They ask the child to memorize lots of lists and information, but we never new (unless I checked ahead of time and gave them a heads up) what they needed to know. I ended up having the dc do only the quizzes open book. This made the class an easy study (just filling state requirement). You could make this class a full credit by doing it all, I think. We cut it back so that it fit into a semester.

We are using DIVE Biology with the BJU third edition textbook.

Thank you so much for that post with the link to the homemaker course! I LOVE this board. What a ministry and blessing it is to me.
My very academic daughter has asked that we do a home ec course together before she graduates. I have been reluctant, feeling like I just can't make it happen along w/all the academic stuff - plus I just don't feel confident in all the home ec skills.
Thank you for this resource.
Sincerely,
Jo

You are quite welcome, Jo. I was simply passing along someone else's find.
I've been very fortunate to have shared the wisdom of others, so I also appreciate this board very much!

Kareni
