We're waiting for our book to arrive so bear in mind we're still just learning. We might have picked materials that won't work etc so please point it out but because we're impatient we wanted to get together some educational materials beforehand. DD read through the FAQs with me earlier and saw the different books that are used for history and because of that she spotted Usborne. It sparked her interest and she started looking through their site and she's spotted a lot of interesting books on there but basically, we're looking for suggestions for preferably british curriculum.

We're trying to keep costs as low as possible and DD has the unachievable goal of getting most of it for £60 or less. Not gonna happen, I think ;D So anyway, here's some things we were considering. Any comments? :]

English,
Vocabulary: Vocabulary from Classical Roots
Grammar: The Chortling Bard
Writing: 'Home made' once again, something DD is interested in
Literature: 'Home made' to work towards an IGCSE in English Lit

Maths,
Head First Algebra I

Science,
Primary: Usborne Encyclopedia of Science
Supplements: Biographies of Scientists, Experiments, etc

History,
Primary: Kingfisher History Encyclopedia
Supplements: Biographies, etc
DD is interested in history and will likely supplement it a lot herself. (She's reading an 500+ page J. Edgar Hoover biography currently, to give you an idea)

Latin, Latinum - a free online course with the textbook available free from google. Woo!

Okay so any opinions, suggestions, etc? :]
