Do you go chron. or pick and choose? Where does the Greek myths book fit in. Do you use that one first, then FMO Greece? Thanks so much.

It really depends what your goals are. MP has a scope and sequence on their website. They do Myths (3rd grade); FMof Rome (4th), FMof MA (5th) and FMofG (6th). They prefer to hold off on the more difficult concepts of the Greeks until 6th grade.

However, I read FMOG to my 5th and 3rd grader and they have really enjoyed it. I think you could use it earlier if you wanted to go strictly chronological. We did Myths and FMOG in one year.

I think it depends on your approch and reason for doing these books. We are trying to follow a LCC type schedule and want to make classical studies a part of our education every year whether we are studying ancient history or not. We are reading Greek Myths and using the guide this year as part of our literature study. It will set the stage for future literary references. We are also using FMOR as the history component to our Latin studies. We will read and study FMOG next year when we are doing MA history because I want the boys to be exposed to the classical cultures a little bit every year as reinforcement. I believe the Highlands Latin School also does FMOR before FMOG as well it is the suggested order in LCC. If your goal is to read these as part of your ancient history then I would do Greek Myths, FMOG, then FMOR. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Angelina. Here we are in the same circle again. We must have been typing at the same time.

We're using Famous Men of Greece (FMoG) along with the Greenleaf Guide to Famous Men of Greece (http://www.greenleafpress.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=24&products_id=755 ) for discussion. Ds11 is also reading D'Aulaire's Greek Myths and doing Memoria Press's D'Aulaires Greek Myths study guide.

I didn't get Memoria Press's study guide for the FMoG because it was too similar to the D'Aulaires (vocabulary words, comprehension/recall questions, a little mapwork).

Chronologically, I believe the order is something like:
-Ancient Greece
-Ancient Rome
-Middle Ages
-Renaissance
