I have been MIA for the week because we have had lots of activity and drama here. Things are turning out well though. I will give the shortest summary I can.

My son had his transfusions and MRI.. The results were good. There has been very little change in his brain MRI, so we can wait a year before the next one. The neurosurgeon did tell me though that surgery remains a very real possibility in the next coming years. He said that the moyamoya appears to be progressing slowly. When it gets to a certain point he will need surgery. They can't do the surgery until it gets just bad enough or it doesn't work. We have to monitor closely enough to do the surgery before he has a stroke. Moyamoya is a pre-stroke condition, but the hope is that we will intervene in time to avoid one.

My son was in the hospital Tuesday through Thursday this week. Last Sunday I got a phone call from a mother I had worked with before asking me to come get her three small children (all 3 years old and under). I believed the children were in a dangerous situation and took them into my care. Stories of abuse and neglect were told. Thankfully they are safe now. I can't give details, but the doctors at the hospital were instrumental in getting social services to investigate. The children will stay where they are while an investigation is completed. I just keep praying that everyone remains safe in this very sad situation.

I have cried for the better part of this week. I feel like my heart has been twisted and drained dry. I have lost four pounds this week because I can't eat. The last two days are offering more hope, but emotionally, I am spent this week.

Just thought I'd share why I have been missing for the week.

You've had quite a week, no wonder you're spent:eek: - I have no idea how you do it all.
Thanks for sharing your son's good results. I hope things continue to go well with him.

I'm so glad the little ones are safe. And I'm glad that your son can wait a bit longer. What an emotionally draining week! Here's wishing you have a very boring week next week!
