Can anyone share their experiences, materials etc that helped the transition from Logic Stage into Rhetoric stage in mid- history cycle??

It seems we have been homeschooling for such along time...my kids have jumped in at various parts and their grade/ learning levels are all over the place.

I would love to hear how other Mom's have continued to switch levels of the Trivium mid- Hx cycle.

However, you want to do it is the quick answer, but here is how I handled it.

DS #1 did ancient history in 8th, and we went ahead and used omnibus 1. (I vote that is plenty to count as rhetoric level.) The idea was that was that he would use Trisms after that and add in some reading from TWTM. That plan bombed, but the thought was that this would give him an extra year to cover US History/ American Lit alone. He ended up just using Spielvogel's Western Civ with the Study Guide to 1715. This year he is doing World Geography. So, much for a 4-year cycle!

DS #2 ended 8th grade with cycle 2 using SOTW and Kingfisher. This year in 9th grade he used Power Basics World History 2. Next year he will use Power Basics World History 3. This text is written at something like a 4th grade level, but it covers the information and has made a good spine for my ds who does not like history.

If you just want to bump it up a little from Kingfisher, you could always use Spielvogel's high school text and choose selections from both the logic and rhetoric reading list in TWTM. Either way I would just keep going from where he ended jr high.
