Hello, everyone.
I'm going to be teaching a short story writing workshop to some 14-15 year-olds (mostly boys) and I'm looking for some creative writing resources for reference material. I'm not looking for actual curriculum, but how-to writing books for teens and age-appropriate anthologies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!

How about either the Writer or Writer's Digest? They're focused on selling your writing, but they often have good, lively articles on fiction techniques and they're fairly short and jazzy. Both have websites with some articles on them.
Stories and Poems for Extremely Intelligent Children (Harold Bloom) is a good anthology, but some of the stories are weird, so preview first.
Any number of writers have written about how they write: Robert Pirsig, Isaac Asimov, Stephen King, Anne Lamont, and John Gardiner come to mind. However, I'm not sure of the interest level of your students, so unless they are already passionate writers, these might be over their head.

Ooh, thanks for the suggestion. I've found a couple of books directed at young writers on Amazon, and I'll be using one of the Firebirds anthologies as examples. I'm teaching this class through my local library, so I don't know any of these kids. I'll find out soon enough! Thanks for responding.
