View Full Version : Where do you keep your medication?

No matter where I plan to keep it, the regulars always end up in the cabinet next to the kitchen sink. I have another designated place for it, but only the occasional medications stay there.

HOW do you keep it organized? I had a little bin at one time, but I had to go digging for what I wanted, and they would end up sitting NEXT to the bin after a short while.

We do have daily medication here, so it's a little harder than the occasional tylenol or cough syrup.

Stainless bin from Target. It used to go on top of the fridge but we would always leave it out so now its home is next to the toaster oven. I use a Sharpie to write the initials of each supplement's owner so it is easy to pick out.

Mostly in a basket on a high shelf in the kitchen. My dw keeps her allergy pills in her dresser drawer so she remembers to take them when she gets dressed.

you know one of those rectangular plastic boxes that hold your am, pm, etc meds. Since I take mine twice a day I use one that has a compartment for am meds and pm meds. They also make them for once a day users, twice a day users (like myself), three times a day users and four times a day users. One Sunday I get out all of my meds from where I keep the bottles and fill in the containers. I like this way because I can easily see if I took my meds or forgot. They are also really good for traveling. I don't have to take all those bottles with me.

You must be much more organized than I am. ;) I would forget to do this each week... not to mention I've got more than one person who takes daily meds. They WOULD be excellent for trips though, rather than lugging the bottles around. Thanks for the idea!

I keep my daily meds in the medicine cabinet in my bathroom. Tylenol, cough syrup and other non-daily meds are in a plastic bin in my linen closet. Band-aids, peroxide, etc are in a separate bin in my linen closet. Vitamins are in a tray in a high cabinet in my kitchen.

Cold medications and the like go in a plastic tote on the top shelf of the pantry. My daily prescription sits on a shelf in the kitchen. If I don't see it I forget to take it.

The regularly used things like vitamins, pain relievers and prescriptions are on the shelf above my spices in the kitchen cabinet next to the sink. I've got them corraled in little organizer trays that are about 3 inches wide and 10 inches deep so that it holds the bottles in one neat row (one in front of the other like they are on display in the store, if that makes sense). They slide out easily and the bottles aren't falling around in the trays/bins.

The rest of the stuff like cough/cold medicine, bandaids, etc. are in a shallow bin in my linen closet in the upstairs hall.

Now THAT sounds just right. Where did you get them?

In the cabinet with the coffee. It's the only way I'll remember to take (or give) any of it.

I don't like taking up space on a kitchen shelf, nor do I like looking at bottles lined up on the counter :-/

In our last house, vitamins were in a plastic basket under the kitchen sink. Prescription meds were in the bathroom medicine cabinets (dh both take ours at bedtime or first thing in the morning). In this house, we have a full bathroom downstairs, and we keep vitamins and ibuprofen there. Upstairs in our master bathroom are the prescription meds. If we had to take prescription meds during the day, they'd be downstairs in the bathroom, too, not in the kitchen at all.

if you have a controlled substance (xanax, amphetamine, etc...) i think you have to keep it in it's original container. i was once told that if you have a xanax in your pocket - even if it is legally yours - you get in trouble if they want to harass you.
i know lots of add/adhd drugs are in this category....don't know if that applies to your kids.

Most things like Tylenol and such go in the mirrored cabinet in the master bath. All my supplements, are in a drawer by the sink in the kitchen.

I have a weird narrow cabinet in the kitchen that I keep supplements and the kids' assorted allergy and daily medicines. When they were very little I kept everything in a toolbox with a padlock under the kitchen sink.
