Okay, I can't seem to find exactly what I want in a copybook/dictation... so I was thinking that I am going to have to create my own.....

Can I use McGuffey's Second Eclectic Reader for the materials for my dd to copy? I wanted something that is good quality but that she can spell.... I was going to select a section of material and then break that up into small pieces/sentences to be copied over a couple of days....then use the same piece for dictation at the end.... is this okay. She is 7 and we have never done copywork besides her handwriting using RFH.....

Also should I create these copywork sheets in manuscript until she is writing well with cursive? We are just starting cursive with her name first then each letter..... I'm so confused!!!! Man and I thought History was hard! Language arts is SO much harder!:D

Thank you all

Yes, you can do that. And you can either write it out in manuscript form, type it up on a seperate sheet of paper or even use something like Startwrite and have the sentence typed up so that she can copy it below.

You can use anything you want for copywork too. Passeges from the Bible, sentences about history, math facts, grammar facts, sentences that you make up. I use silly sentences that I made up to reinforce SWR phonograms. :)
