My daughter completed MUS pre-algebra last year and is currently working on MUS algebra. If I decide to switch her to Life of Fred, would she use beginning algebra or advanced algebra. She understood and did fairly well with the pre-algebra. Some of the things taught in MUS algebra are not always taught very well - problems that were not taught during the video.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nancy

We used both MUS Algebra and LoF Algebra last year. There are topics in LoF (and other traditional Algebra 1 texts) that are not presented in MUS until Algebra 2. One example is the quadratic formula. LoF is also more challenging than MUS.

I would suggest starting in LoF beginning algebra. Buy the home companion for extra problems. Allow her to skip/speed through what she knows if you like.

:iagree: to start with LoF Beginning Algebra and get the Home Companion. We have that book now, and I'm (supposed to be) working through it myself. I've done 2 chapters and then got distracted, but I have to have it done before my 11 yo starts it.

I really enjoy the style, and know my second one is going to enjoy the humour and writing in it. My first did something else since this is so new.
