Hello,
My name is Julie. HSing for 7 years....12yodd, 9yods, 7yods, 5yodd, baby due in Sept. I haven't been to the WTM boards in years! I like the new look.

In an attempt to improve on our writing, I would like to really start listening to (and reading aloud) the classics more often to expose my children to great writing. My local library has some books on CD, but I was wondering if there is a good, not to $$$ source for audio books on CD. I can't do cassettes in my car...no cassette player!

I was all excited when I found downloadable audio books on netlibrary.org but they don't allow you to burn them to CD, and my mp3 players are incompatible with the file type.:(

Any ideas? suggestions?
TIA

Julie

Does your library have Overdrive?
You can search member libraries here..

http://search.overdrive.com/ Some publishers allow burning to CD for personal use.

I've found lots there..

Plus we like Lit2Go http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/index.htm
They are also avaliable through ITunesU

How about books on CD by Jim Weiss? They are affordable, and my boys have enjoyed them.

I shop on Amazon Marketplace, half.com, ebay, and our local Half Price Books stores for most of our audiobook selections.

However, I prefer to get things out of the library first and then only purchase the books I'm willing to hear over and over and over again!
