I need to loose a good deal of weight (74 lbs. to be exact) and am interested in a low GI / GL diet. My mom (who is not and never really was overweight) has diabetes and eating low GI/GL has helped her control her blood sugar without medication for about 5 yrs. My husband was diagnosed last year with diabetes - he's changed his diet somewhat and lost some weight, but he needs more.

At any rate, I think that a low GI / GL diet would be good for all of us but I am not sure where to start in my meal planning. I was thinking about joining eDiets, but not really sure that I want to shell out the $$$ to do that.

Does anyone practice a low GI / GL way of eating, and if so would you mind telling me which websites or books you have found most helpful? I just got one of the Glucose Revolution books (I forgot which one - I think it's the NGR one) and my Mom is going to send me some info as well.

Thanks so much!

run by the same people who wrote the Glucose Revolution books:

If you also look back through the archives, you will find quite a lot of information and hints.

Good luck with using the 'diet'. I think you will find it very easy to implement and well worthwhile.

TY so much, Pam! I ordered a few books last night and will certainly look through the website you mentioned (like right now, LOL)! I do think that this will be the very best for our whole family. I have certainly seen the positive changes in my Mom and Dad!

Laurie,
You may want to take a look at the book, The Fat Flush by Ann Lousie Gittleman.

I really dislike the term "diet" for what Gittleman does, it is more of a way of life. You will be very pleased with the result.
