We held a dance for the teens/tweens in our homeschool group, and my daughter, age 13, was especially excited.

About half the group were kids we didn't know, so there were lots of new friends made.

The best part, though, was when one boy (quite cute, btw!) that my daughter didn't know walked up to her and said, as his opening line, "So, do you watch the Discovery Channel?"

This type of thing could only happen at a homeschool dance!

Kinda along the lines of "Seen any good documentaries lately?"

Too cute. :)

Kind of a discreet version of, "So, how well socialized are you?"

And much better than, "Is that your mom chaperoning over in the corner? Her denim jumper is really pretty."

or "Nice shoes." :p

Okay, it's really sad that I can think of homeschooling teenager lines. Back to my original sentence--that was cute.

I'd watch out for him, though. Next thing you know he'll be whispering sweet vocab in her ear and hooking up to play Scrabble. Those homeschool boys only LOOK innocent in their khakis and combed hair. Underneath all that? Well let's just say you can learn a LOT from Discovery Channel! :D
