We should be getting new floors next week. They still have to call and schedule it all. Day one will be moving all the big stuff. Day 2 is actual floor construction. Day 3 will be putting the big stuff back. Day 1 and 3 should impact school little unless they move stuff first thing on day 1 and last thing on day 3.

The school area is included in the area to be re-floored. So the school book shelf and school table will be moved, possibly just to the carpet. There is a possibility that we will be able to get to these things or we may not. It just depends on how much stuff ends up in the house and how much in the garage. DH thinks we could just school upstairs. Well, it all depends on if we can get to the books. :(

Thoughts?

Get a backpack or a small rolling suitcase. Load it up with your books - the ones you will use for those days. Then if school needs to take place in the kitchen or living room you are good to go!

We took the week off from school when we remodeled the floor in our school room. It was the easiest option by far...you know this is the time of the year for spring break.

We did a major house addition and backyard renovation through most of 2006-2007. Most days involved loud power tools, guys walking on the roof, and general noise and mayhem.

We did the best we could, but definitely did NOT get as much done during that time. I really underestimated how disruptive construction can be.

It sounds like you only have three days of actual floor work going on, is that right? If so, I would just plan on taking them off. You will most likely be keeping an eye on the workers anyway, answering any possible questions that come up, and then dealing with the tons of dust that these type of house projects cause.
