If so, How did you word it on the transcripts and how much crdit did you give. The Saxon site says that it is more commonly used as a 3 semester course (and I know some homeschool curriculums providers like Seton actually do the book in 2 years giving a total of 2 credits). I would like to give 1 credit for this year and 1/2 credit for finishing it this fall. What did you do?

Also what did you end up calling the course, I know there are many variations of ways to name this. I just don't want it to look like he just redid the same course. I guess I'm wondering if I call all 3 semesters the same thing?

Sorry for the long winded, confusing questions!

Thanks,
Barb

Geometry/Trig...........1 unit
PreCalc.....................1 unit

It's a two-year course for the one book, regardless of how long it takes, whether it be two, three, four, or five semesters, etc.

Moni, Thank you. I like the wording. So, he did 3/4 of the book last year and will finish this fall semester - I guess it makes sense to give 1 credit each - it would look funny to give something called precal 1/2.

I think you're wise to do this. We pushed it into two semesters, and it was stressful. If I had a do-over, I'd follow your plan of listing as Geometry/Trig and Precalculus.

or something to that effect. We've always broken it down that way. One year do half the text - call it geometry - 1 credit. Next year cover rest of text - 1 credit - we titled it Trig/pre-cal based on what we felt it covered most heavily, when.
if that makes sense..........
This text is hard. And the problems are time-consuming and if you're faithfully taking the tests, as well, it's a demanding course.

HTH!
