Looking for a magazine for dd, almost 14

Everytime we go to the library, she makes a beeline for "Seventeen". She loves the fashion and makeup and hairstyles. She is done w/ American Girl and wants something more grown up, but I hate all the other boy/body focused stuff in Seventeen. Are there any more moderate magazines out there that we would both be happy with? I wish American Girl did a magazine for teens. There would probably be a market for it.

Does it have to be on those types of topics? How about a magazine that leans more to another interest she has, such as a history, science or other magazine? My 14 yo likes Odyssey, and liked the magazine Digs she saw yesterday for the first time. Cobblestone Publications has a great selection in various subject areas including science, history, literature, etc.

It has a lot of emphasis on fashion and does not have the articles I think are inappropriate.
