Or if you are so inclined to hang ugly wallpaper, make sure you hang it correctly so when the new owner moves into your house, it doesn't rip the drywall paper when they take it off and then have to spend hours mudding over it because you didn't hang it correctly.

And if you do hang ugly wallpaper, at least try to keep it contained to one room, not every room in the house.

And FTR, the rooms in which you don't hang ugly wallpaper, please don't put up rilly awful fake wood paneling.

Please, please, please, do not put wallpaper on every. surface. Especially not the ceilings! Our last house had approximately 3800 sq. ft. of wallpaper on every wall, and every ceiling. Really, really, really bad ugly 1950s, 1960s wallpaper.

If you *do* hang ugly wallpaper only to discover that you didn't hang it correctly and now have gaps in the seams, please do not feel compelled to cover the gaps with border of a completely different pattern and color scheme hung *vertically* over every seam. The background paper was dark beige with a small brown and orange print, the border was white with pink and blue flowers....enough said.

Now shall we move on to "if you feel compelled to do a faux finish in your small bathroom with Williamsburg blue tiles extending halfway up the walls, please do not pick hot pink/gray/white as the color scheme, glop the paint on so it runs down the wall or fail to extend the pattern into the corners of the room leaving hot pink stripes in each corner......"

back in style until a whole generation of people who have never had to take it off grow up and decide it would be lovely to wallpaper! And, the cycle will continue. :-)
