We got the verbal results/recommendations yesterday (wait, for the lawyer - "we" is myself and DD, STBXH wasn't there), we are going with Plan B/C! LOL!!
We are an hour away from the Doctor - and no one in Orlando likes to travel over 20 minutes. I'm not joking - they talk about it all the time! :tongue_smilie:
So, Plan A is therapy in the office. We'd probably end up having to pay out of pocket for this, and i didn't even ask what his cost was. I know from here on the board we are talking $5000+. Frankly, it's NOT doable right now with the never-ending divorce expenses. We would have about a 50% shot at getting the insurance the kids are on to cover it... it would be a fight though they say.
Plan B/C took shape when he found out we were going to be starting OT, AND that the OT is willing to work with him on Therapy since she is covered. In fact she asked for the coordination so that they wouldn't be doing the same thing. He was very excited to hear her attitude about it, and so formulated plan B/C on the fly.
That has us doing the HTS Home Based Therapy along with OT and her going into glasses for schoolwork and reading only.
I'm pleased with this direction for now, it's doable cost wise, and is less travel. Our SLP & OT are both about 45 minutes away, and i'm not sure if that will be 2 or 3 times a week. The 3 hours that it would be for a VT session just sounds insurmountable at the moment, especially if STBXH gets the judge to force the kids to Public School.
BUT, i forgot to ask about the computer requirements. They were gone for the day when i realized it. I can't find that particular info online either...
SOOO, long shot here, can anyone tell me what they are? I'm assuming it's Windows only, but i need to know the Monitor requirements too so that i can sort out where we are going to do this (we are a Mac household - but with some XP stuff laying around to use :tongue_smilie: ).
Back to the results, he was pleased we'd had the Auditory Processing Eval done too - they testing in that area put her on a 6y2m level :001_huh: (at 10y0m). Those findings agree with the AP results, except he didn't use an age in this report, just "immature". He also said that most kids with her auditory issues then turn to rely on visuals to learn (she tested as a visual learner), but with as bad as her auditory processing is, she is really having a hard time. She is only where she is academic wise because she is being educated at home one on one. His feeling is that we are looking at some other "big picture" diagnosis, and agreed that a neurological workup was something we need to have.
Anyway, hopefully someone has the info on the HTS for me (i'll call monday and ask), at least i feel like we are getting somewhere.... not there yet, but somewhere right?
