That's exactly what I did this year with my 6th grader. Zoology I has 14 lessons, and Zoology II has 13 lessons. We have 36 weeks in our school year, so I was able to spread the longer lessons out over 2 weeks. However, I noticed you have younger children, so if you are doing this with all of your children, the pace may be too fast. If this is just for your 10-year old next school year, I think you will be fine.

for my older 2. They will be 4th and 5th next year. My younger bunch will be doing some thing else. I would like to do Zoology next year and Botony the next and then start General Science when my oldest is in 7th. I would just do one of the Zoology books, but they want to do both. Thanks.

The next book is Land Animals of the 6th Day. My 7th grader won't be doing a formal science program next year, but he does want me to buy this for him so that he can read through it on his own. I really, really like the Elementary Apologia series. I think I read somewhere that the new book should be out May 30th. There's also going to be a chemistry/physics book and an anatomy book. I can't find a specific realease date for either book, but the year 2009 is mentioned on the website.

Since your kids want to study both, I think you can easily go through both books in 1 year. If the pace is too fast for you 4th grader, you could slow down and not complete all of the chapters or maybe just hit the ones that they are interested in. Personally, I really don't think there will be a problem.
My 5th grader is doing astronomy and botany this year, and he hasn't had any problems. Actually, it has worked out well because he is starting botany with the spring season.
