but it's out of print. I have before FIAR. I think Beyond FIAR may be too old for my kids. What should I do?

What exactly is out of print? Not the manuals.

We used FIAR for ages 3-5, but did not to the Beyond program.

The manuals all have 2008 editions. See their order form:

You could always look for an older version on ebay also.

Amazon has some for sale, used for 10 +4 shipping and new for 20 + 4 shipping. If you were set on using it, then there are places to buy it.

Which volume were you looking for? If it was volume 4 it is out of print, but they are releasing digital segments on their website. All of the others are still in print.

FIAR (http://www.fiarhq.com/fiarold/catalog/online.html) is only OOP on some of the standard bindings. And for Vol 1, I'd imagine lots of used copies are available.

I read a bit about your homeschooling struggles on the general board. Was FIAR recommended to you? Did you do B4 and love it? The reason I ask, is w/ a 7 and 8 yo using FIAR and feeling you're learning enough/teaching enough/covering enough/doing enough can be difficult. At least, that is what happened to me when I used it for my 1st & 3rd grade girls. You'll find a lot of support on the FIAR boards though. And it might be just the thing you need for a great year.

What curriculum did you use this year?

I love FIAR, but I have to agree with 5wolfcubs, it's probably going to be too light for a 7 and 8 yr old. Try Volume 4 which was written for 2nd and 3rd graders or look at the Level C units on homeschoolshare at:

http://www.homeschoolshare.com/LevelCUnits.php

There are lots of great book studies available for these ages, so you can easily find appropriate material but FIAR Volumes 1-3 are probably not the place for you to start.
