I need to find a standardized test my daughter can take to meet the annual testing requirement for the school board.

She took the SAT on June 6th and I was planning to send those results, however, I have just been informed that her results were canceled (by College Board).

She took the test at a local high school. The only way for her to reach me to be picked up was to take her cell phone. She turned it off and placed it in the bottom of her backpack, it was new and had an alarm feature she didn't realize would not shut off and it rang during the test. :glare:

Does anyone know of test options I could use? The next SAT isn't scheduled until October.

There are a number of resources for standardized tests. Bayside School Services (http://www.baysideschoolservices.com)and Seton Testing Services (http://www.setontesting.com/) both do the CAT.

If you have a bachelor's degree, one option might be the Iowa test. This is what we've used to meet our state requirements (although we do not need to send in our scores.) At the high school level the test is called the ITED (Iowa Test of Educational Development) and it's much more streamlined than the Basic Skills test used through grade 8. You might not have to administer the entire battery either--you could probably do just the core language and math tests, if that's all you need to meet your state requirements.

You can get the test through BJU Press. You just have to register with them as an official tester (for which you need to have a bachelor's degree), and you need to send a signed form certifying that your student is homeschooled. Both of these steps are very easy to do at the same time you order the test.

You can just give BJU testing a call at 1.800.845.5731, and they'll take it from there. At this time of year, I would think you'd be able to get the test quite quickly. How quickly you could get scores back I don't know--if you're working against a deadline for turning in scores, BJU may be able to give you a better indication of timing. And if computer scoring takes too long, there is also handscoring available--for a price of course!

Best of luck!

http://www.familylearning.org/ Click on the *testing* link on the left-hand side.

Our results came back VERY quickly this year.

Reg: The Iowa Test...
If you are not a "certified teacher" the test results are not admissable per the state of FL requirements. Although, BJU approved me as a Test Administrator, I can not submit the scores b/c I'm not a "certified teacher". I include the scores in their portfolio evaluation, however.

You might consider requesting an extension with your school district. We're in Duval County and have found the ladies are very helpful in the HS office.

Don't you have certified teachers in your local support groups that will provide the letter of evaluation based on a portfolio review--a review of schoolwork done through the year?

In the State of Florida testing is not even required. Even when you test, we advise that test scores not be sent in directly to the county. We encourage to take test scores to someone that will provide the letter.

That's what I'd do. Quick turnaround.

If you don't know a teacher to do the evaluation (much faster than the turn-around for any test) check www.fpea.com to find a support group in your area. They should know of a few.

Thank you so much everyone. I have a few ideas to follow up on now.
It is great to be able to get advice when you feel that first twinge of panic.:001_smile:
