Specifically, Bennett's America, the Last Best Hope ( or something like that) and Johnson's History of the American People.

I'm wondering about readability and "interestingness." And I'm too lazy to read them both (although I do have the Johnson book).

Thanks!

Johnson's book is more detailed. I have only read part of it. It is fairly easy to read and is told in narrative style. The reading is meatier, and will take longer than Bennet's.
Bennett's book is also narrative. It is more of an overview, and not quite as indepth. It is very interesting, and we learned a lot. I chose it over Johnson's book because my son was also doing Omnibus, and I didn't want to overwhelm him with amount of reading. Bennet's is broken into two books. We had planned to do both (Vol. 1 had 13 chapters)But only finished one this year

Ah! That's just what I was looking for. Thanks so much.
