Good morning! I'm in the market for a new iPod (just sold my 2nd gen Nano on eBay) and not sure if I should get an 80g Classic or the 8g Nano. I'm not even sure why I want another as I didn't really use my 1st, LOL, but, DH just got a Classic and now I am sooooo jealous!

I think I'd like to be able to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and music. The video aspect seems cool as well, but just not sure how often I would use it. I would like to use the iPod for exercise as well (probably just walking on the treadmill). I would also take it on trips home to see family (two weeks at a time) and for our summer vacation (1 week).

Thoughts from those who have either?

Both have video, yes? I like my Classic better than my son's Nano because I can keep quite a few books and lectures on it at once, in addition to some videos and music. I'm often shuffling things around on my son's Nano due to space, books take up a lot. Not that it's any great hardship to move things around.

TY for the reply! Yes, they both have video: 8 hrs. on the Nano vs. 100 on the Classic. I'm just wondering if I have songs, an audiobook, plus a TV show or two if the Nano will be enough. Then again, like you said it's not that hard to move stuff around.

Decisions...decisions... ;)

I agree with Karen, I'd go for the classic. My dh took mine. :-( And now I have the nano. There's not much space for me! Oh well.

Hmmm - well, I thought that I had chosen the Nano, but now am not sure! I would like to use my iPod for exercise (not that I do anything now, but maybe one day!) and read that since the Nano doesn't have a hard drive it's better for that. But in reality I might be using it in the car and by the pool more often.

I don't know...maybe more people will chime in with their thoughts!

I would get the Nano unless you *really* need the extra space. The Nano is much easier to use for exercise. Audiobooks don't take up much space, but music does, so a lot depends on how large a selection of music you want to keep on the iPod. I have a lot of audiobooks on my computer, but like to keep only a few on my iPod at any one time. Makes it easier to find what I want. Also, the technology in the Nano is better for exercise (and also will probably last longer).

I don't think our computer even has 80 gig - that's way more memory than I'd ever need. I just got a 4gig Nano in January, and haven't yet filled it up because I take off the stuff I'm not going to use. I have something like 4 days of music, a bunch of podcasts (some video), a few audiobooks and some photos. I delete the podcasts after listening, keeping any I might want later on my computer instead of on my iPod.

I love the feel of the Nano - it's tiny, but not so small that it's hard to use. Even in the case, it doesn't take much room in my purse. The screen is big enough that I can give each of my girls an earbud and they can watch Dora or They Might Be Giants when we have to wait somewhere. I also found a car FM transmitter on clearance at Staples for under $30, so I can put on an audiobook for the kids (or Prima Latina lessons).

The only reason he got a classic is b/c he wants all his music on his ipod and he needs that much memory to have it all there.

I love my nano - it's a 3rd gen. I haven't used the video yet. I have almost all the music I want on it. I mostly (99%) use it to run with. I love the Nike + ipod, only available with a nano, think. Last year I got the mp3 from the VA conference, every single conference talk that was recorded is on these mp3s. I put them on my ipod. All of them. I have 80 some hours of VA conference mp3s on my nano and still have tons of space left. I got the 8gig.
