It was a great book. My son really enjoyed it last year in 10th grade. In my opinion, it would be great reading for a child 9th grade and up. It could be done earlier if the parent read it with the child and discussed the material to help with comprehension. Parts of the poem are easy to understand, other parts require quite bit of thought to understand what is being said. At least this is how it worked for my child.
