Has anyone heard of a seizure where the child (13dd) gets "tippy" as she calls it---dizzy and uncoordinated. She then ate (in case it was blood sugar related as this was 8am). At 8:45 she fell trying to get out of a chair, hit her head, cut it (needed glueing at the doctor's), smashed her glasses. Then I laid her down on the couch where about 20 minutes later she threw up. She was still dizzy, uncoordinated so we went in for a STAT blood test for her seizure med levels.
Those came back normal so far as well as her CBC. At 1:30 we saw the doctor and she still couldn't walk on her own, uncoordinated, etc. but her cogntive skills were fine (she is impaired but they were very good for her) and her speech was fine (in fact no stuttering which is a plus). Doctor ordered a CT right away due to the fact that she still couldn't walk 5-6 hours after this started and that she had fallen and cut her head earlier.
We did the CT at 3:15 and got home about 5pm. She was about 75% better then. By 6:30 she was totally normal and went to church tonight and seemed fine. Doctor is calling me back in a few minutes with the results of the CT.
This seemed to me like her Tegretol dose was too high but that came back just fine. She has done this before but normally she is only "tippy" for an hour or less but if she has a major event her cognitive skills can take hours to days to come back while the motor skills come back quickly. Today it was the motor skills that took 10 hours to come back but her cognitive and speech skills were back quickly.
Does this sound like any kind of seizure you know? Neurologist has her diagnosed with complex-partial seizures for lack of something better at this point. Just wondering what else I could be googling.
