Does anyone use CLE Reading??

When you use this program, do you fell the need to use ALL of the Light Units?

Just wondering.

I have 1st and 4th. We started to use the light units, but quickly found that they were too cumbersome for us. Now I just use the readers.

I am finding that out very fast...but we keep trudging through them. It would be so great...if there were less Light Units or something to make them more compact, like one Light Unit per book....hm.

I have a 4th and 6th grader using these. We just started them and, though they are cumbersome, I didn't think they were doing very well with comprehension. So, I bought them for that reason.

However, we use a separate spelling program and don't do the handwriting lessons there. I'm not sure how much I like them but, for two reluctant readers, I can be assured they are reading and finding the meaning of the stories.

My 4th grader is using this program. I am having him go through all the lightunits. I think they are very good. It takes him awhile to "get" things, which is why I feel the need to do them all.:D

even if you do spread it over a year (we do 1 unit then take a break & read a whole book then go back to it) .

CLE reading is only 3 wks work for each lightunit for a total of 15 weeks of reading for each of the grades 4-8. They are well worth our time because they teach so much! I highly recommend CLE reading.
