Please help me decide on a writing program for my 7th grader. I'm not sure what to use that will prepare her for high school. I'm looking for something that is easily implemented into our daily schedule, something with clear instructions that would not be too labor intensive for me to teach, & something that is so awesome that it will automatically carry over into other subjects (history, science, etc.) that require her to write essays. Oh, and something she will not loathe! :D

We used Writesource this year for 7th grade and will use it again next year. I bought the teacher manual but don't use it anymore so I think you can do without. We also use the Skillbook.

The grammar portion, though good, is presented in such a random fashion that I added Applications of Grammar to cover that area. Sounds like a lot but we have found it easy to use.

I really like the Classical Writing series, but based upon your guidelines, I don't think it will work for you. If I didn't use CW, I've always thought of using Put That In Writing 2-volume series. I believe it uses the progymnasmata approach too (mostly in Vol II). I really haven't done much research, but it's on my list if we get ahead of the CW production timeline. Just thought I would mention it to you...

I would suggest IEW SWI B or "Put That in Writing" ..clear directions to student, daily lessons, check lists and answer keys (for PTIW) are straight forward.
