I've used a variety of science materials over the years and BJUP Science for three years now, and frankly I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is not oriented towards a creationist view of science and who doesn't ascribe to evangelical theology. Here's a link to the sample pages in the 5th grade teacher book: http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=228353&event=1016BJU|1150502|60219#curr
You might want to look at Singapore Science or McGraw-Hill Science (which is what Calvert uses). Both are good with nice textbooks.

Thank you. I was hoping you would respond. One more question, does the publication year really matter? McGraw Hill has a 2008 and the year Calvert uses is 2000/2001. We do believe in creationism, just not the rest. Thank you for your alternate suggestions, as well. I will check to see if ebay has any McGraw-Hill. I looked at Singapore. Didn't like it.
A neighbor with kids in a local private school showed them to me. They looked like decent texts from what I saw, but of course so much depends on how they're used. :)
We tried Singapore too, and my oldest hated the graphics. Go figure!

I doubt many secular people would consider any BJU materials. I know I won't.
