On the old board, a few people mentioned requiring a certain number of pages of writing per week. Or, some people would determine what writing should be done each week based on a goal of a certain number of pages of writing per week.
For those people, what do you consider an acceptable number of pages per week and for what age? If you also have older children that went on to college, how did this number compare to the amount of writing required of the student in college?
Thanks!

If I required a minimum pages per week regular writing, my ds would either give me exactly that page amount, or bury me in writing.
I require written work every week, but it varies. I assign a set of short essays every week for literature, and we do IEW SWI-C, so he has to do the writing assignment for that. I require short research papers every quarter. At least once a quarter, I will require a more creative assignment instead of the weekly essay, for example, he had to do a summary of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in any format he chose - he chose do write a poem for the summary which was about 500 words. Mainly, I rely on IEW to give the regular writing assignments.
He is taking classes at the cc this year so I have some things to compare to. His longest paper this semester is a seven page compare and contrast paper for philosophy. Most of his writing so far has been essay - essay homework and essay tests.
