Looking for the name of a book about time travel during the bubonic plague

I know it was about a woman, a scientist, who traveled back in time during the bubonic plage. The author, I think, was a woman, her last name started with a W. Can anyone help me - I know I found it in the adult section of my library, but I remember thinking the kids would get a lot out of it when they were old enough.
