so I find myself in the market for a boxed set.
Any recommendations? I am leaning toward the Flying Circus 16-ton megaset, but I'm not completely sure what I am getting myself into. :o

I have to say that I *love* my deluxe edition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The "subtitles for people who don't like the film" are particularly hilarious as is the scene done with lego people.
eta: I can't speak to the DVD collection of The Flying Circus because I don't own it...yet.

I would go for the mega set if you can afford it. But we are huge Python fans here.

Weeeeellll, I would allow my kids to watch them, but I don't know that I would feel comfortable playing them at a birthday party where other, possibly more conservative homeschoolers are present. KWIM? Flying Circus does have the famous barbershop quartet sketch. That's what comes to mind first. :o Maybe it's not a problem for you, but we constantly run into people who have much stricter standards for what they allow their kids to watch than we do.

It's tough trying to find something that appeals to all of our friends and their parents, isn't it?
In the case of this small group of friends I feel comfortable with MP because these are the boys who introduced the goofy stuff to my son.
They're all looking forward to an excuse to watch all afternoon. :D

Costco often has the latter in a boxed set. I watch them when I have a rotten nasty cold and am in bed with hot tea and vicks vaporub.

Ooooh. Thanks for the tip. I'll have my husband check there before I order something online.
