There's at least one brazen commercial around here that advocates spending the "free money" the gvt is sending you on new carpeting. Yes, the commercial actually calls it "free money" and "your duty to stimulate the economy". And its even more wonderful because their carpets are made in America & are "green". (actually that last part is ok) but it just upsets me that they are perpetuating a myth that this is simply a gvt largess. Anyone else hearing commercials like that?

Every year around this time, I see commercials for car dealerships that offer for customers to bring their W2s and have their taxes done while they shop for a new car then the dealer will apply any refund to the car purchase.

This commercial seems more geared to the Stimulus Package checks rather than the normal tax return time.

I'll show them!
We're not getting one! My husband was laid off last year, and got a years' severance. Six months later, he's still unemployed...our "double salary" cost us 37% in taxes, we couldn't take any deductions except our mortgage interest (no tuition, no taxes, nothing) because we're "wealthy," and now we won't be getting the rebate because of our "high income." Did I mention he's still unemployed? Do I sound bitter? :)
