Sorry I can't link it here, but basically this man purposes that Moses' religious experiences were the result of drug trip.. Did you guys read this? Hmmm....I just don't think the ten commandments sound like they came out of that sort of experience. the bizarre things that get published sometimes......

Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the "burning bush," suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances.

I think that about sums it up. ;)

I just think this is what happens when you try to explain faith in terms of science.

That doesn't seem like a very well-researched, well-supported, or well-written article to me. I'm not sure both the author and Mr. Shannon were not both partaking of this acacia bark. Did the opening phrase "High on Mt. Sinai" make anyone else giggle?

I've heard that before. I think once you rule out God, it IS hard to explain the burning bush (not to mention parting the Red Sea). So that's one explanation people have come up with. I'm sure there are others too. History is funny that way - since we weren't there, we have to guess a lot. Even things that are recorded, there are going to be gaps. We can't know the whole story even when we're part of something; how much harder is it to know the story when we weren't there? As for me, I think the bush was actually burning because God caused it to. But I wasn't there, so I can't disprove someone saying there was another reason, just as they can't disprove my theory. That's why they call it "faith." :)

I have a very difficult time believing that anyone directing their life based on drug-induced hallucinations could write something as organized, coherent, and intelligent as the Pentateuch--the books of the law particularly reflect a keen mind.

My extensive experience with drug users indicates that they become just toooo spacey to hold it together intellectually.
