I'll bump your post up a bit, so maybe someone who does will see it. I do know that it predates this board.

I'm pretty sure it was Kay in CA. About 2 years ago?

I know I used the phrase back when Doug was sick? So... three years ago. But I might not have been the first...

It always makes me think of the Borg (in Star Trek - Next Generation). "You will be assimilated!"

It was indeed Kay in CA who I believe used it first.
And some people, smarter than me people, got it right away.

Interesting. Perhaps a well documented research paper could be written by a sci-fi/science minded homeschooler that presents similarities between the communication of bees and the Borg;) The name Borg, btw, is scandinavian (as in Bjorn Borg) and I think it means fortress or castle--something like that.

I think it was originally meant that way. But in a tongue-in-cheek manner, not a lock-step-thought manner.
The whole being greater than the sum of its parts on one hand (great advice from a multitude of counselor in which there is safety) and the idea that sooner or later you're going to love us so much that you'll be "One of Us of TWTM" on the other.
