Thanks to happy2homeschool for suggesting the Feed My Sheep art instruction program by this company! I was wondering if anybody else had any experience using any of the programs from this company? Feed My Sheep is for ages 10 and up. He'll be 10 in May. I'm guessing this would be a good fit for him but just wondered if he'd be missing something important from the other program, Lamb's Book or Art I and II? He's had no formal art instruction except basics like color wheel, some shading, some perspective...but he does seem to just "get this" all on his own w/out instruction, KWIM? My other dc have developed an interest in art as well but I can't afford both programs. Which should I choose? Would Lamb's Book be "meaty" enough for ds9 or should I get Feed My Sheep and let the youngers pick up what they can? TIA!

Lamb's Book of Art (I actually prefer the lessons in book #2, although the content of each book is the same). It is in a workbook-type format, so I buy it when dc are about 12 and are able to work through it independently. You could use if for youngers, of course, but I like the fact I can just hand it to them and tell them to follow the directions and draw.
I have never used/seen Feed My Sheep, so I can't help you out there...

Yes, we're using it. Not as often as my dc would like, but that's they're own doing by lollygagging on academics. We have the Feed my Sheep, which I bought for 2 kids who were 9 & 12. My 9 yo tends to do well with art and we'd done the workshop by the Stebbings. It covers various facets of art. We didn't buy the DVD for that as my dd's got the idea from the workshop. We have a younger one for ds, 7, but we bought the videos as he really wants to be shown how to draw/paint, etc.
As for Lamb's book of art, that could work well, too. I think that's the one his wife said she first learned with, but it's been 6 months and my memory may be rusty on that. It doesn't hurt to go with a lower level to get the basics down first.

So, do you know exactly what Lamb's Book of Art covers as opposed to Feed My Sheep? I'm thinking I'll go w/ Feed My Sheep only b/c I can afford one. BUT, is Feed My Sheep a stand-alone program in that a child who has not done Lamb's Book of Art could easily start in Feed My Sheep? Does it assume no prior background is what I mean. Thanks!

You could start with either, I think, as both start with the basics. I don't have them in my hand at the moment, but the second is a bit harder and has more things--but both have drawing, coloured pencils, painting, etc. In our house, my dd's learn their art on their own and I only sit with ds, 7, as he needs a lot more help. My girls can see it and do it when it comes to art for the most part, whereas ds needs instruction and encouragement.
