View Full Version : Are the upper levels (grade 7) of BJU math meant to be a workbook?

My ds 11 will be done with R&S 6 next week. I really like this program but he complains about all the writing and it really slows him down. He is such a perfectionist that he spend more time setting up his paper perfectly than actually doing the math. Looking at the samples, I just can't tell. Some of the pages look as though they have left room for answers and others are hard to tell. Thanks for the help.:)

I don't think he would have enough room to work out the problems. There are usually 20-30 problems in a lesson.

No, they're hardback texts. They do have an accompanying workbook for extra practice, but it isn't the main lesson.

But one option you have for a write-in text is Lial's BCM or Pre-Algebra. I got a copy of Lial's Prealgebra last year for about $5 on half.com (7th edition, paperback). In these books the answers and solutions to the odds are in the back (which you can just tear out). You probably wouldn't need a solutions guide, but if you did, you could find one of those for around the same price. Just be sure to look for the older 7th edition (published around 2000, so not really that old).

HTH!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that. I am just looking for something to pass the time before starting videotext algebra. He is 5th grade now and a bit ahead in math. I was going to just move to R&S 8 but I wanted to visit other options that maybe he could write in. I want to start VT in 7th grade.
