So, I don't know how it is now that there is a fee.

My son loved it. Each day had a different game to play for the week's spelling words: hangman, scrambled letters. There was a quiz on thursday I think and a test on Friday. And, when they finished the spelling activity, they earned a game in the arcade.

Once it went to a fee-based program, i just couldn't justify the expense. I felt that there were plenty of other free spelling games out there that we could use in its place. DS was :(sad that we didn't continue it, but he is still alive and well, so I think he got over it ;)(though he does ask about it and Math Time, too).

Hopefully someone who is a current subscriber can answer with more timely information.

We have been using it for a month for my 2nd and 3rd grader. My kids love it and are very motivated to do their lessons, because at the end of each day they get a point to play a game. It is a pretty flexible program because you can use their standard word lists or create your own. You can also start mid year on the standard word lists. I have no idea if it is a good program or not. We are using it because I needed a little break from AAS for a few months.

You do need to supervise your kids though because my dd tried to write down some of the words on a cheat sheet to use for the rest of the lessons that week. Also my youngest was going back over lessons he had already done so he could earn some quick points to play games.

The program is set up to email you with the results on the pop quiz and final quiz for each lesson, so it is pretty easy to figure out if you kids aren't progressing. Also they have a parental review section where you can see the lesson they are working on and the lessons completed.

My daughter loved spelling time and still asks me about it.
Funny thing is, we could never get any of the games to play properly when it was free.

She tried to "cheat" once too. I told her it was excellent practice to write down her words, but that looking at the sheet was a no-no!

Personally, I found it very time consuming to enter in her words for the week. I was also putting in the same words for my son's lists. He wasn't as enthused about it, but it was a nice break for us. (We use SWR). Perhaps that has improved now that you pay for it.

I don't know anything about Spelling Time, but there is another site that sounds similar - SpellingCity (http://www.spellingcity.com/). Maybe this will be something you can use.
