I thought I read that recently and I can't find the thread on here! Thanks.

the review in the lesson rather than in a separate workbook. Anyone know when this is coming out?

I don't think that is right, that the new edition of 3rd grade is coming out in the fall. The 2nd grade book has just come out in the 3rd edition (marked *new* in the new catalog), and there is nothing in the 2008 catalog about a new edition of 3rd grade.

Also, there is a small amount of built-in review in the old 2nd editions. And - the 3rd editions *do* also have a review book.

Same as what they did with 1st grade math 3rd ed, if you click on 'conventional schools', there it is. So the Home Teacher's Edition is not available yet.

I think the 3rd grade new edition will be coming out for the next year - sometime in 2009. And the new 4th grade a year after that, unless they go and do 6th, then 5th, then 4th (like they did with science).

Your links were helpful. If you check my post to Johanna and her reply (I don't know how to link), she has an email inside from BJU saying that 3rd edition 3rd grade will be out in July '08. She personally owns the 2nd grade 3rd edition, so that is out already.

I don't know why they have to make it so complicated! I'm bummed too about what you said about what they did with the science revisions. I had hoped to start with the 3rd grade new edition and be able to keep going with using the new editions each year, but it sounds like BJU itself doesn't even know what's going on with these revisions! Thanks for your help!

I have the 3rd edition of the Second Grade book. The teacher's guide has a CD that includes facts practice, review practice, reteaching pages, and "stretching" exercises for each chapter, plus a pdf with all of the visuals (like clock faces, game boards, hundreds charts). So if you normally get the TM, then I would look at the disk that comes with it before you invest in extra books. I was going to send the TM back until I discovered the treasure on the disk.

I'm wondering if they've done that in place of the extra workbooks. It sounds like the CD does cover the areas that the extra wkbks currently do. Thanks for this information-I had no idea about the CD.

The second grade 3rd edition program was sold under the Christian Schools section of the website last year. This year there is a Home Instructor's Guide and it's sold with regular homeschool books. So you might have to buy your 3rd grade third edition books through the Christian Schools section and use a regular CS teacher's manual instead of a Home Instructor's guide this year. (as I think the Home Instructor's Guide is released behind the regular school version).

Well, that's good to know at least. How different is the CS TM from the Home Instructor's TM? I'm leery enough about using the Home Instructor's TM since it's so unwieldy (HATED the TM for BJU Bible.) If I have to use the CS TM and it's even more geared toward a school setting, it may just send me over the edge and make me completely disregard this program as a possible contender.

Just says Teacher's edition. There is a reference on the cd instructions about "individual student or small group instructions." The instructions just say things like "Review the doubles facts." I haven't seen any other BJU manuals but this seems no different than the SM home instructors guide. I bought mine from Rainbow.

Each lesson does include 10 or so review questions from earlier material and there is a chapter and cumulative review at the end of each chapter. There are also challenge problems for each chapter at the end of the student manual which my dd loves. The problems for this chapter were number riddles.
