If this subject is not appropiate, I apologise!
Recently I've been having 2 heavy periods a month and my doctor said I have a hormonal inbalance and prescribed hormone replacement. I really don't want to take any hormones because of the side effect but I really want to do more research before I start taking med. Where can I do more research on this subject or has anyone had this same issue or know someone who has.
Thank you and again I apologise if this subject offends anyone.

I have heard of a doctor in Atlanta that is supposed to be fabulous for bio-identical hormones ( have heard great things from many people.) He has a really good website. You can probably get some good information from there. The website is www.advancedgynsolutions.com

Saliva testing is good for determining which hormones you need and how much. Natural hormone replacement therapy (NHRT) uses bio-identical hormones which means that under a microscope it cannot be distinguished from human-produced hormones. If your doctor has done saliva testing and has determined you would benefit from NHRT, I wouldn't hesitate to go ahead with it.
It is regular hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that I don't trust. These are the hormones produced by pharmaceutical companies and they are not bio-identical to human hormones.

google BHRT (Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy) and find a compound pharmacy in your area. Oh, and you need a doc who is okay with prescribing bio-identical hormones. Many are - at least in my area.
You may want a saliva test done to check on hormone levels, this is supposed to be more accurate than a blood test.
Here is a website I found very informative: www.apothecaryoptions.com

Whatever you decide, please stay under the care of a doctor. My mother self-medicated with hormone cream that she purchased at a health food store. She died of breast cancer within 2 years, and though there is no "proof," her story is not uncommon. For her -- if a little is good -- a lot is better  and she never followed up with an m.d. Her estrogen levels were through the roof when they diagnosed her.
