One star means terrible, right? This cannot be good:eek:

I see four stars on your "throw in the towel" post..... That's the only one I notice,

I hate to say a gave myself 3 stars kind of by accident. :o
I didn't think it would let me give myself any stars but I wanted to try and see and it did. Opps. There was only one star there before I put one

You know, I suspect it was some ignorant* soul who took exception to a single post in the thread and didn't know that to disagree with the post, one either *koff koff* posts a respectful, reasoned disagreement to the post or pushes the little balance icon and says, "I disagree" with a the push of a button.

Instead, they put a one star rating on the whole thread. Of course, it's unlikely we'll ever know who did that. I, for one, wouldn't lose any sleep about it. ;)

Why does the thread rating feature even exist? Rhetorical question, of course. Just my way of telling the o.p. not to give it two thoughts ~ or one, for that matter.;)

I could be wrong, but umm--I think those stars are a GOOD thing not a bad thing. I just went and looked at all the rated threads and all of those threads were GOOD threads, not bad ones.. so umm, stars are GOOD not bad...

At least it's that way on every single other forum I'm on that uses this format.

Don't worry about it. Your question is asked frequently, with minor detail changes. You did nothing wrong. Someone probably gave it one star because of not liking a post in it, or who knows why. It's got plenty of stars now.

I liked Whisperlily & Carol in Cal's advice to you. And you got a great offer from Joanne - take her up on it!

Stick around here, and you'll see that we all have our hurdles, and we get through them. Yes, sometimes it requires changing things altogether, but more often than not, a simple change can work wonders. If you really want to homeschool, you can (with the help of this board, of course :)).

Hang tight. You're going to be fine.

I think I am being ignored--but I'll repeat it...

Stars are a GOOD thing ladies. It's a way of rating the thread POSITIVELY not negatively. Stars let people know that it is a hot thread and has good advice...

They are GOOD not BAD...

Why do you think you're being ignored, Toni?

I would think so too, Toni, but if you go to the "rate thread" button, one star says terrible. Kinda like a one-star hotel, I guess. I have never rated a thread and it kinda bugs me to see them rated because what one person deems 5 star might not interest me at all, but I pretty much ignore the stars.

STARS ARE GOOD...

I always assume they are good too, despite the explanation that appears when you hover the cursor over the stars. I figure, if someone takes the time to rate a thread, it must be interesting. :)

Ahh I see how you are all taking this---rating it a one star doesn't necessarily mean "terrible" as in "omg this is horribly horrible don't touch it" it means "this isn't to my likeing".. the problem with the stars bit is that if one star is hit on a thread, people will actually come to the thread more because when they see the stars, they think there is something worthy in it and they will rate the thread, causing the stars to rise..

So basically, whoever gave her the one star was stupid. ;) They just helped bring attention to her thread which caused us to read it, causing us to think about it, causing us to rate it, causing it to get a higher rating ;)

See what I mean?? It's all good, when you think about it. ;)

You would think, wouldn't you? But click on the stars and you'll see that a one, two - even a three, I think, have sort of derogatory definitions.... Another bummer like the rep thing.....

Well, I want you to know I went and bumped you up. I voted you the max number of stars, because I think anytime someone is waving their arm and saying "Help, I am drowning here" and people come throwing life rings, it is excellent! :)

I know when I am drowning and people throw life rings I find it excellent.
