I tried to search for it but it nothing came up.

Does anyone use SAM-e? Does it help? If so, what brand? How much?

What else could help?

Thanks!

My recommendation would be to try Enada first (Nadh). This is a B-vitamin coenzyme widely available in supplement stores or online. It has no known side effects, and it can be quite amazingly helpful for the type of problem you describe. Try 5 mg 1/2-hour before eating in the morning. You typically feel better by the third day of use. Google Enada to find more info.

Sam-e is helpful for a lot of people. If you Google, you will find lots of sources and info. It does have side effects for some people. Sam-e and St. John's Wort both give me headaches, but then so do the prescription SSRIs such as Paxil.

I take 5-htp for hormonal depression/anxiety. It raises serotonin naturally. It works wonders for me. I never had success taking Sam-e or St. John's Wart. To me, 5-htp is comparable to antidepressents but without the side effects. I love it!

Check out the book The Mood Cure. It addresses exactly what you're asking about. She recommends 5-HTP above all else, in addition to a supplement regimen that most people would probably benefit from anyway (calcium/magnesium, B-complex, fish oil, etc.) It's a very detailed book and explains a LOT about how serotonin (and lack thereof) affects your entire body. About two days after I started taking it, I discovered that my mysterious daily stomach upset had disappeared almost entirely. That's not why I started supplementing, but it was a very welcome side benefit, LOL!
