View Full Version : My goldfish is dying...

I've had this tradition of giving the kiddos a goldfish for Easter. Two weeks later, the goldfish was dead and I was free of pet duties. However, one year, it didn't work out that way. We've had this goldfish for 7 years! And now it seems to be dying, right around Easter too.

One part of me says 'about time!', and the other one is sad. This goldfish turned into our mascot, and is almost a science experiment too!

And there's a part of me that's grossed out. It seems to be emptying itself through its bowels. As in "it's inside out!". It's pretty gross to see.

And there's a last part that's worrying how we're going to dispose of it! It's too big to be flushed by now! It's almost as big as a koi fish!

Oh boy. The kids haven't seen it yet. I don't dare draw their attention to it either. I have kids easily grossed out.

Sigh. Nothing serious, I know, but it's drawing me down today. Silly...

Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I'm always surprised at how long I've kept a beta fish alive. Sounds gross. Poor fish. I guess that I would just bury it.

We had two goldfish that lasted for only a couple of months...death due to Nilla wafer overdose by my ds.
Is there a nice little pond somewhere that you could just release it into the wild for its last days?

If there was a pond, it would be completely frozen and covered with the snow we had this winter...

Now I don't have a single picture of that fish. But I guess it's too late. It's kinda in a gross state right now.

Oh, and the trick to keep a goldfish that long is to forget to feed it 6 days out of 7.. Honestly! This was the lowest maintenance fish I've ever had! Unkillable! Until now that is. Which is ironic, cause now it has the best aquarium possible, and the water is very clear, and it's all alone in there (it ate the other fish, even those that were not edible). And now it dies?

Sorry, I neglected to notice that you are also in the frozen north as am I.
OK, how about a nice little indoor pond like in a fancy hotel, maybe no one will notice:eek:!

LOL! And I even know of one! OOOh, would I dare? :D

(but it wouldn't be nice to the koi fish that are already in the tank. What if my fish is contagious?)

The fish is still alive... I no longer know if I should be relieved that our mascot is still around, or mad that it's not dead yet! LOL!
