I seem to remember you beginning a Botony study and then not liking it. Was the narrative/descriptive approach not hands on enough? What didn't you like and what made you choose OM rather than something like BJU or tops/van cleve which you've liked, right? Curious about your thoughts because I think you have a knack for keeping school fun and interesting with your eclectic approaches, at least it seems so from your blog:)

Thanks for the vote of confidence! :p I still haven't put my finger on why the Botany didn't fly here, but we really, REALLY didn't like it.
I realized that we haven't studies that much earth science/astronomy in the past several years, and so when a used OM syllabus became available on the swap board I picked it up. I'm sure we'll fold in some VanCleave experiments and whatever else suits our fancy!
As far as BJU, we do that over the summer and as kind of a free time fun science activity. We always finish it well before the year is over! Gotta have MORE SCIENCE!!! I just can't get enough science!
This year I am teaching a physical science co-op class, so I just subscribed to PLATO science to supplement it. We tried it today and LOVE it!
Yes, I love to mix up our science studies, and keep it fresh. It works for us since I don't need too much structure, being a science lover myself! My science schedule is totally inconsistent and random. ;)
I usually have general science (BJU) going and a TWTM-ish thread going (various). If we are doing a unit study, we will also have science topics related to that.:D
